So I know New Years resolutions pretty much never stick, but I always like to have a list anyway. Even if I don’t accomplish all of it, I need goals and motivations. So this is my concrete post to remind myself what I need to do.
- Lead an overall healthier life: I need to stop eating fast food and shitty food for my body. Its time to lose some weight, get some exercise and feel better about myself. I am too young to be this overweight and I am lucky enough to have the freedom and ability to change. Plus I want to get skinnier so that I can enjoy being active. I want to be able to go jump on a trampoline for an hour without dying. I want to hike up a mountain, go snowboarding and spend the summer surfing.
- Build a skill and use it to create: I like a lot of things but I don’t really love anything. I’m a pretty rad person, but I really don’t have something that I’m really good at. So i’ve decided that I need to get better at something I like. I am going to purchase an Adobe package from school and really tighten up my photoshop skills. I also want to take better pictures and help my sister with her blog with photos and graphics. I’ve loved every photo class I’ve ever taken and these skills can help me make a little money on the side eventually. Even if I suck now, I remind myself that sucking at something is the first step to being kinda good at something.
- Be more social: Okay, honestly, this is at the bottom of my list. I have only a few very close friends and I’m happy with that. I don’t crave going out and partying with strangers or anything, but it wouldn’t kill me to meet more people and put myself out there. I’m never going to meet anyone sitting on my couch. And included in this, I really want to go to a gay bar or even an LGBT related group of the sort. I’m genuinely lost as to how to meet girls and I really would like to explore that part of my sexuality this year so that I can figure my own identity out.
- Procrastinate Less: This will make my last semester of school much more enjoyable.
And thats it for now. May edit this post later, but this is my reminder. There are tons of other little things I want to do to like: keep room cleaner, take more pride in my appearance, go to church more often etc. but those are changes that will come more naturally once I kick these resolutions in the butt.
Let’s see, it has been 6 months and what have I accomplished? Pretty much none of it… I am out mostly everyone now and I go to church every week, but other than that, I did not accomplish anything on this list.
But alas, the year is not over yet! Here’s to refocusing on self improvement.
